Downing Street has released a collection of images capturing the emotion as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson delivered his resignation.
In the images, you can see the prime minister reading over his resignation before heading out of Downing Street’s famous black door to end his leadership.

Back inside, Johnson was greeted by his wife, Carrie Johnson and their children, Wilf and Romy.

The PM was also greeted by some of his most loyal allies including Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

It was soon back to business as the prime minister led a meeting of his new cabinet.
Those around the table with him included newly appointed Education Secretary James Cleverly.
