While US climate envoy John Kerry added The United States will likely exceed the pledge to reduce emissions.
He made the announcement at the start of a US-hosted virtual global climate summit.
40 countries including big emitters like China, India, and Russia are attending the 2-day event.

The US is also set to help poorer countries with a promise to double climate aid.
It comes as Joe Biden’s presidency marks a shift of policy for the U-S.
