Can Taylor Swift help Joe Biden find young voters?

Published

on

As the Kansas City Chiefs secure their spot in the 2024 Super Bowl, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has made a big claim about Taylor Swift.

Ramaswamy, who had previously withdrawn from the presidential race to endorse Donald Trump, has predicted that the upcoming Super Bowl showdown between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers may be manipulated in favor of the Chiefs.

He believes this scenario is intended to set the stage for Taylor Swift’s potential endorsement of President Biden later in the year.

Political inclinations

Ramaswamy’s comments come in response to a theory put forth by alt-right media personality Jack Posobiec, who suggested a link between Swift’s past actions and her political inclinations.

Posobiec, known for spearheading conspiracy theories such as “Pizzagate,” implied a connection between Swift’s 2019 dispute with the Soros family over the rights to her music and her subsequent shift towards liberal viewpoints in 2020.

In a tweet, Ramaswamy stated, “I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.”

He added, “Just some wild speculation over here; let’s see how it ages over the next eight months.”

The possibility of Taylor Swift endorsing President Biden has garnered significant attention. California Governor Gavin Newsom, a prominent Biden supporter, has publicly encouraged Swift to lend her support to the president’s campaign.

Young voters

Newsom highlighted the impact of Swift’s influence on young voters and her ability to activate them to participate in the political process.

Swift’s support could potentially add substantial value to both the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs. According to reports, Swift has generated a “brand value” of $331.5 million for the Chiefs and the NFL through her attendance at games and her public appearances alongside Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Her influence has extended beyond the football field, contributing to increased female viewership of NFL games and higher merchandise sales, particularly related to Kelce.

Swift’s impact on the NFL’s regular-season female viewership and the 18-to-34 demographic has been significant, according to data collected by Front Office Sports.

The romantic connection between Swift and Kelce has garnered attention and even earned the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s approval. Goodell acknowledged that their relationship has connected more fans of Taylor Swift and the NFL, strengthening the bond between the pop star’s fanbase and the football league.
