Google files lawsuit to protect puppy buyers

Published

Google has filed a consumer protection lawsuit to shield vulnerable people.

The company claims a man in Cameroon tricked ‘would-be buyers’ using Gmail and other services into the sale of imaginary puppies.

It claims the man lured his victims with “alluring” photographs of pure-bred puppies, and testimonials from supposedly satisfied customers.

Google says it spent more than 75,000 dollars to “investigate and remediate” the activities.

In one instance, a woman sent a $700 deposit to the seller, who sent her a video of what she thought was her soon-to-be puppy.

The company says the man has caused harm to the company’s relationship with its users ad its reputation.
