Kerry touches down as the northern hemisphere sweats through record temperatures

Europe is sweating under a heat dome which is pushing temperatures to the high forties where they’re expected to sit for another week or so yet.

Death Valley in California hit 53 degrees over the weekend.

And China is set a new all-time temperature record when western province of Xinjiang hit 52C.

This is the scene that John Kerry, U.S. climate envoy arrives in China to kick start climate talks between the world’s two largest polluters.

He’s far from the only U.S. official to visit China in recent months, following Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
