Turkey vows to investigate building collapses

Turkey has detained 113 suspects, and vowed to investigate those potentially responsible for the collapse of buildings

This is all due to the country’s devastating earthquakes a week ago.

The death toll across both Turkey and Syria has risen past 34,000.

Opponents of Turkish President Reccip Tayyip Erdogan have accused his government of not enforcing building regulations, and of misspending taxes levied after the last major earthquake to make buildings more quake resistant.

The president has acknowledged problems with the relief effort, but says the situation had been brought under control.

He has called for solidarity and condemned what he called “negative” politicking.
