The Taliban has banned women from appearing in TV dramas

Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities have labelled the rule as a “religious guideline”

The Taliban government has banned women from appearing in television dramas.

The new rules follow previous orders which also instructed female journalists and presenters to wear headscarves on screen.

The Taliban took control of Afghanistan back in August… and many fear they are gradually imposing harsher restrictions, with many aimed at the female population.

Additionally, the latest guidelines prohibit films that the Taliban believes go against the principles of Islamic law and Afghan values…

Comedy and other light-hearted comedies that insult the Islamic faith or the Afghan population are also barred.

The militant group almost immediately instructed all girls and young women to stay home from school after the U.S. and allied troops departed…

The Taliban say this move is “temporary” and was designed to protect women’s safety.
