Protestors in Sri Lanka say they have been “assaulted” as the military takes to the streets to disperse the crowds

The military in Sri Lanka has taken control of the presidential secretariat, where several protest leaders were detained.

It comes after protestors left the prime minister’s official residence.

It’s understood around 10 protesters were badly injured after being attacked.

Others are seeking to flee the nation altogether, with reports of people making passports to travel overseas.

Meanwhile, the nation is enforcing a ‘fuel pass’ to ensure vehicle owners get enough fuel.

The QR Code system comes amid Sri Lanka’s worst energy crisis, and worst economic collapse in 70 years.
