Russia stops the flow of gas to Europe

Russia has paused its gas supplies following a maintenance check on its last remaining compressor

Russia’s Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline is undergoing repairs for the next three days.

This means no gas will flow into Germany, and other European nations who are heavily reliant on the state-run system.

The gas is administered by the energy giant Gazprom, which has already reduced its streaming capacity down to 20 per cent.

The company blaming maintenance and western sanctions for the sluggish performance.

“We need a new market model for electricity that really functions and brings us back into balance.”

Russia has cut off entire gas supplies to several European countries like Finland, Denmark, Poland and the Netherlands.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen says the continent is shifting to a renewables powerhouse.

It follows the French Energy Minister Transition Minister, Agnes Pannier-Runacher accusing Russia of “using gas as a weapon of war”.
