A study revealed that in 2020 alone, scientists in the US, China, and the UK spent over 100 million hours on peer review, equating to more than $2.5 billion in free labour for publishers.

In response, DeSci Labs is developing open public infrastructure for scientific publishing, leveraging Web3 and AI.

Their platform will allow scientists to share manuscripts, data, and code without paywalls or subscriptions.

A unique token incentive system intends to compensate referees for their peer review efforts, fostering a more equitable research environment.
