North Korea eyes stronger cooperation with Russia to resist US envoy

Published

on

North Korea is seeking to strengthen co-operation with Russia to counter the United States.

Pyongyang’s ambassador to Russia also says peace on the Korean peninsula won’t be possible until US troops are withdrawn.

It follows North Korean leaders warn that South Korea and the U-S will face consequences for their decision to proceed with military drills.

The Ambassador believes the drills are a “rehearsal for war”, and the U-S is responsible for instability in the region.

Around 28,000 US troops are currently stationed in South Korea, which is a legacy from the 1950 Korean War.

Washington and Seoul say the joint drills are defensive in nature.
