Gilbert Gottfried, the actor and legendary stand-up comedian has passed away

Actor and comedy legend Gilbert Gottfried has died.

His family announced his death after a long illness via his Twitter page.

Gottfried was best known for his raw, scorched voice and crude jokes.

He stared in films including Aladdin and Problem Child.

A representative for the actor stated that he died of a “heart abnormality”

Gottfried leaves behind his wife and two children.

Celebrities have taken to social media to honour the star and share their best memories.

Walt Disney has also remembered the comedic icon, thanking Gottfried for his “iconic voice” and character.

Gottfried also defended his fellow comedians until the very end, using his last social media post to back Chris Rock after the recent Oscars event, which saw Will Smith and Rock have an on stage encounter.

In addition to his brash stand-up routines, the star was known for his piercing, squawky vocals, including in Disney’s hit movie, Alladin.

Gottfried died “after a long illness,” his family announced on social media.

Trump claims Iran’s military largely neutralized; tensions rise with attacks threatening air travel and oil shipping.

President Trump says Iran’s military capability has been largely neutralised, including its navy and air force, as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies. Iranian attacks have threatened commercial air travel and oil shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of wider economic fallout.

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has faced two attacks, while Gulf states worked to intercept further Iranian strikes. Officials report six U.S. troops killed and more than 700 deaths inside Iran as the exchange of fire escalates.

With global markets watching closely, the region remains on edge as military and diplomatic tensions show no signs of easing.
