Horrifying details regarding the human cost of Uyghur detention in China have emerged

Thousands of leaked police photographs and documents detail a system of mass incarceration and shoot-to-kill orders. 

It was all released after hackers broke into police computer servers before sharing the information online. 

Dubbed the Xinjiang Police Files, the BBC have authenticated the files which give significant insights into the treatment of Uyghurs and other minorities in China. 

The publication comes as the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner arrives in the country.

The Commissioner will visit the infamous Xinjiang province. However, critics are concerned her itinerary will be closely controlled and monitored by Beijing. 

The documents allege China has “re-education” camps and formal prisons are used for the mass detention of Uyghurs.

Beijing’s previous claims the re-education camps are nothing more than “schools” has been contradicted by internal police memos and images. 

This is the strongest evidence to date that China and the nation’s leader, Xi Jinping is targeting the Uyghur identity, culture and faith.
