King Charles’ ancestors were directly involved in buying over 200 enslaved Africans

New records reveal ancestors of King Charles were involved in buying at least 200 enslaved Africans.

The direct ancestors and the royal family reportedly bought and exploited enslaved people on tobacco plantations in Virginia.

A document reveals one ancestor of the king was involved in buying at least 200 enslaved people from the Royal African Company in 1686.

The RAC traded almost 180,000 people and was granted royal charters by successive English kings.

The information establishing these royal roots were found by a playwright while she was investigating links between the Church of England and enslavers in Virginia.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson says Charles takes the issue of slavery“profoundly seriously”and has described it as an “appalling atrocity”.
