Japan could be on the brink of collapse if people don’t start making babies.

The country is on the brink of losing one fifth of its population by 2050 and lawmakers are concerned.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida says the nation is “on the verge of whether [it] can continue to function as a society.”

Japan’s population sits at 125 million, adding 800,000 births in 2022.

But in the 1970s that figure was more than two million.
