India is the world’s third largest emitter of greenhouse gases, but the nation has rejected calls to announce a net zero carbon emissions target.
It says it is more important for the world to lay out a pathway to reduce emissions, and avert a dangerous rise in global temperatures.
The nation’s environment minister says India will “take a call” about reducing emissions at an “appropriate time”.
