German village will soon be destroyed to make way for a coal plant expansion

German police have arrested nearly all of the climate activists who were protesting from a village soon to be destroyed to make way for a coal mine expansion.

Hundreds of officers were deployed to help clear out the some-300 individuals, many of whom were hiding in treehouses.

It follows several violent clashes between both parties, with many onlookers posting footage online.

In total, 35 “tree structures” and around 30 other wooden constructions have been cleared away.

It’s believed two people remain hiding in an underground tunnel at the site.

The activists argue the village should be left alone and the coal should remain in the ground.
