The FAA has imposed a temporary restriction prohibiting drone flights over critical infrastructure in New Jersey due to a series of unexplained drone sightings.

The decision, which will remain in place until January 17, follows requests from federal security officials.

While the FAA stated that the restrictions aim to deter drone flights, they indicated there is no evidence of a threat posed by these aircraft.

The Department of Homeland Security supported the FAA’s action, noting that “critical infrastructure partners” requested the ban to protect their facilities.

Residents and officials are concerned as these drones have been observed near military sites, power lines, and residential areas.

Despite numerous conspiracy theories suggesting foreign espionage or extraterrestrial activity, federal officials have dismissed these claims.

The White House reassured the public that the drones do not represent a national-security threat. However, the origin of the drones remains unclear, causing speculation.
