End in sight for Israel-Palestine violence?

A surge in violence has occurred in the first two months of 2023, so, what does it all mean?

Violence between Israel and the Palestinians is continuing to escalate.

The escalation is mainly taking place in the West Bank and East Jerusalem – areas occupied by Israel since the 1967 Middle East war.

Last year, at least 146 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces, which is the most since official records began in 2005.

Meanwhile, 29 Israelis and two foreign nationals died, marking the deadliest year for Israelis since 2015.

And to kick off 2023, the first two months of the year saw a total of 74 deaths – higher than any similar period in 2022.

So, what is behind this surge in violence and is there an end in sight?

Harley Lippman from the American Israel Public Affairs Executive Committee joined to discuss.
