Crypto a fad? Official says tech giants ‘invading currency area’
The Governor of Denmark’s central bank has weighed into the Crypto debate and he doesn’t like it…
Lars Rohde has shot down the legitimacy of Crypto, suggesting its little more than a fad than central banks can probably ignore.
This isn’t overly surprising considering he works at a Central Bank.
Rohde said If technology giants start “invading the currency area” and the means of transaction, then “that could be very interesting and maybe also a real threat to the autonomy and independence of central banks.”
He’s the latest central banker to warn against the disappearance of cash and the dominance of digital payments.
