Police are now considering claims that Keir Starmer broke lockdown rules last year.

This is due to a video that emerged from April 2021, showing the labour leader having a beer with colleagues.

But there are calls from senior conservatives, insisting the force should now launch a full investigation into Sir Keir’s conduct.

Conservatives are saying there appeared to be no difference between the event that he attended and the ‘birthday party’ in No 10 for which UK PM Boris Johnson was fined £50.

When it comes to Sir Keir’s future, he was asked at his press conference by Sky News’s Beth Rigby if he would resign if he was “found to have broken the rules.”

But he responded that he would only resign if he was fined.

Durham Police have set up a major incident room and expect the investigation to last six weeks.
