But this has led to an increasing demand for electricity production, especially for data centres, which is linked to net zero targets. The shift is leading to the creation of new businesses across various sectors, including fintech and healthcare.

‘AI factories’

Nirupa Chander discussed the uniqueness of AI data centres, explaining ultra power density and the importance of designing data centres today for future needs. Schneider Electric’s partnership with NVIDIA aims to facilitate discussions about the integration of power from the grid to data centres.

The Galaxy VXL, showcased at the event, features high-density uninterruptible power supply technology, along with advancements in cooling and on-site power generation. Collaboration across industries is crucial to achieve sustainable power architecture.

Rethinking infrastructure

Dion Harris from NVIDIA reiterated the growth trajectory for AI technologies, driven by models and usage cases in various fields. He pointed out that data centres are evolving into AI factories, necessitating a rethinking of traditional infrastructure.

Trent McCarley from Motivair mentioned the critical importance of liquid cooling for data centres.

Jensen Huang also announced plans for a new NVIDIA base in Taipei and an artificial intelligence supercomputer, highlighting Taiwan’s role as a vital technology hub amid changing global pressures.

Four astronauts aboard SpaceX’s Dragon Freedom join the ISS for eight months of research and experiments in orbit.

Four astronauts have successfully arrived at the International Space Station, marking a major milestone for NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission. The Dragon spacecraft Freedom completed a 34-hour journey from Cape Canaveral before docking with the station’s Harmony module.

The new crew includes NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot, and cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. They join three crew members already aboard who had been managing station operations alone for the past month.

During their eight-month stay, the Crew-12 astronauts will carry out a variety of scientific experiments and research projects designed to advance space exploration and international collaboration.

Europe is entering a new spaceflight era as the Ariane 64 prepares for its maiden launch from French Guiana. The rocket, the most powerful ever developed in Europe, features four boosters and is capable of delivering more than 20 tonnes into low Earth orbit.

The launch window opens at 4:45 p.m. UTC and closes at 5:13 p.m. UTC, with the mission expected to last one hour and 54 minutes. During the flight, satellites will be deployed in pairs, marking a critical technical milestone for Europe’s space ambitions.
