Elon Musk denies reports of SpaceX selling Starlink terminals to Russia

Published

on

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk dismissed erroneous claims circulating in the media alleging that the company had sold Starlink terminals to Russia.

The tweet, posted on Musk’s official Twitter account, read: “A number of false news reports claim that SpaceX is selling Starlink terminals to Russia. This is categorically false. To the best of our knowledge, no Starlinks have been sold directly or indirectly to Russia.”

The clarification comes amidst a flurry of news articles suggesting that SpaceX had engaged in transactions involving Starlink terminals with Russia.

Digital divide

Starlink, SpaceX’s satellite internet constellation project, aims to provide high-speed internet access to remote and underserved areas globally.

The terminals, which receive signals from Starlink satellites, have garnered significant interest due to their potential to bridge the digital divide and improve connectivity in regions with limited access to traditional internet infrastructure.

However, Musk’s statement emphatically refutes any claims of Starlink terminals being sold to Russia, reaffirming SpaceX’s commitment to transparency and accuracy in its operations.

The tweet aims to tackle the issue head on, and dismiss concerns and dispel rumors surrounding SpaceX’s business dealings.
