French minister, Marlene Schiappa, appears on Playboy magazine cover

A French minister has come under fire after appearing on the cover of PlayBoy magazine.

Marlene Schiappa is the current Minister for the Social Economy and French Associations.

She appeared in the publication alongside a 12-page interview about women’s and LGBTQI+ rights.

She has long been an advocate in these areas and was appointed as the country’s first ever Gender Equality Minister in 2017.

During her time in this role, Schiappa successfully spearheaded a new sexual harassment law – allowing on the spot fines for men who catcall, harass or follow women on the street.

Her appearance on the cover of the raunchy publication has drawn criticism from political colleagues, including French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.

Borne told Schiappa it “wasn’t appropriate, especially during this period.”

France is currently in the midst of a social and political crisis triggered by President Macron’s desire to push ahead with pension reforms.

New Orleans faces fear as immigration operation targets undocumented immigrants, sparking community concern and calls for accountability.

U.S. immigration officials have launched a new enforcement operation in New Orleans targeting undocumented immigrants, with a particular focus on individuals released from local custody under sanctuary-style policies. The move has sparked a wave of concern across the community.

Residents say the tactics used by federal agents are creating fear among families, including those without criminal records. One restaurant owner has even created makeshift sleeping spaces to keep loved ones out of sight as the operation intensifies.

Local leaders, including council member Lesli Harris, are calling for clarity and accountability as the operation continues through the end of the year. The full scope of the federal action remains uncertain.
