As the January 6 hearing continue, U.S. lawmakers have accused Donald Trump of inciting a mob of supporters to attack the Capitol

During the former president’s last-ditch attempt to stay in the White House, witnesses describe a tense six-hour meeting on December 18.

During the loud and aggressive discussion, Trump reportedly chose to disregard the views of his own White House staffers in favour of external advisers he had brought in.

Committee members allege Trump effectively incited the Capitol violence by refusing to admit he had lost the election.

Just after the mammoth six-hour meeting at the White Hose, then-president Trump took to Twitter, calling on his supporters to flock to Washington for a “big protest”.

In the committee’s recorded testimony, the video describes how Trump’s external advisors all encouraged him to fight the election result.

Former White House counsel told the committee he believed Trump should have conceded the election, but his opinion was falling on deaf ears.
