China dominates talks at G7 summit in the UK

The divide between China and many western nations at the G7 summit appears to be growing by the day.

In the lead-up to a two-day meeting between the Group of Seven nations, or G7, there were proposals to counter China’s economic coercion across the world.

It comes as Germany, France, and Italy all start to move away from Beijing and further towards the US.

G7 member nations are moving to create a coordinated action plan against Beijing

As foreign ministers met this week at the G7 summit, it’s believed they also spoke about alleged human rights breaches in the notorious Xinjiang province.

Officials say the US wants to initiate a coordinated action plan with G7 nations, so they can work together to act upon China’s influence and boost resilience.

Other topics of discussion included tensions with Russia, the COVID-19 pandemic and the spread of climate change.

US Secretary of State Andrew Blinken says “it is not our purpose to try to contain China or to hold China down.”

China’s economy and military have risen dramatically over the past 40 years, but the combined force of the G7 nations is greater than China, both economically and physically.

NASA’s Artemis II rocket is ready for its first crewed Moon mission in over 50 years, featuring Argentina’s ATENEA microsatellite.

NASA’s Artemis II rocket has arrived at Kennedy Space Center, marking the first crewed Moon mission in more than five decades.

The mission will carry a crew of four astronauts on a ten-day journey around the Moon, with a wet dress rehearsal scheduled for February 2 to test all systems.

In a historic moment for Latin America, Argentina’s ATENEA microsatellite will join the Artemis II mission as secondary cargo. Developed through a collaboration of Argentine institutions, ATENEA will collect crucial data on radiation and communications systems in space, making Argentina the only Latin American country contributing to this milestone mission.

The Artemis II mission will also validate life support and spacecraft systems ahead of Artemis III, NASA’s planned crewed lunar landing in 2027. With the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft now on Launch Pad 39B, excitement is building for this next giant leap in space exploration.
