White House Press Secretary says the logistics of the meeting are still being decided.

U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping have organised to meet virtually before the end of this year.

A senior U.S. official announced the event in a conference call with reporters, following multiple meetings involving White House National Security Adviser and a senior Chinese foreign policy adviser.

This comes as the tensions between two of the world’s biggest powers have escalated following China’S intimidation of Taiwan as well as the ongoing trade war.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken raised concerns about China’s “provocative” actions in relation to 56 fighter planes directed at Taiwan on Monday, saying it endangers peace in the region.

“We strongly urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic and economic pressure and coercion directed at Taiwan,” he says.

The two leaders last spoke on nine-eleven, discussing methods to prevent conflict between U.S. and China.

Details for the new meeting are yet to be confirmed.
