Why a family of a fallen U.S. Marine are suing Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is being sued by the family of a fallen marine

The family is seeking 25 million dollars after claiming the actor made “false allegations” online about their involvement in the Capitol Riots.

The comments allegedly appeared on Baldwin’s Instagram account, where he was responding to a post from the marine’s sister.

In the original post, the woman had shared photos of herself with a crowd of pro-Trump supporters on January 6.

Baldwin then commented if she was the same woman that he sent money to, after her brother-in-law was killed in Afghanistan.

The marine at the centre of the case is Rylee McCollum, who was one of 13 U-S serviceman killed last year as forces withdrew from Afghanistan.
