China’s attendance at the recent NATO-led peace talks have raised eyebrows at the intent of one of Russia’s strongest supporters – who is yet to condemn the invasion
Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have failed to bring about much in the way of peace between the two nations.
But why has China – one of Russia’s most important allies of late – decided to join the talks?
China has joined recent peace talks between Russia and Ukraine held in Saudi Arabia.
This is after snubbing previous talks held in NATO-member Denmark.
China has long been one of Russia’s most important allies, especially as the invasion of Ukraine stretches into its 17th month.
Some analysts have suggested China’s attendance in Saudi Arabia signals a possible shift in Beijing’s approach to the situation though how much this is the case remains to be seen.
