One of Australia’s leading international relations scholars says the Ukraine war could end this month

La Trobe University Professor Joseph Camilleri, who is one of Australia’s leading international relations scholars, says a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine may be seen by the end of April.

Six weeks into the ongoing war, Ukrainian forces have re-taken the greater region of Kyiv, as officials accuse Russia of massacring civilians in the town of Bucha.

Images have surfaced online via Twitter, showing the extent of brutality the city faced by at the hands of Russian forces, with innocent civilians killed and bodies dumped in bushland.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky addressed the Grammys, where he urged people to tell the truth about the ongoing war his nation is facing.

Ukrainian President Zelensky, says “concentrated evil has come to our land. Murderers, butchers, rapists, looters, who call themselves an army and who only deserve to die after what they have done.”

However, Moscow has denied recent allegations labelling the footage of dead bodies in the area are being used as “provocations” by Ukraine’s Government.

President Putin’s forces continues aggression in Ukraine.

Will a ceasefire be reached?

Professor Camilleri says Russia “will eventually need to stand down” due to the amount of troops it continues to lose in the war.

He also expects the International Criminal Court (ICC) to convict Russia of committing war crimes, and agrees with suggestions that Russian President Vladimir Putin could be charged with committing such acts.
