Silent killer: UK failing to protect against intensifying heatwaves

Health experts are warning the UK is failing to protect its vulnerable citizens from intensifying heatwaves.

The Met Office warning over impact of global heating prompts calls for action to protect the elderly and vulnerable.

Thousands of preventable deaths could be triggered every year because simple measures to keep houses and care homes cool haven’t been implemented.

Those most likely to suffer include the very young, the elderly and people suffering from chronic conditions such as asthma.
