Senate Republicans have blocked the bill to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law

Democratic leader Chuck Schumer planned a vote on a sweeping bill to override state laws and set a national abortion policy, the Women’s Health Protection Act, but lost the vote in the Senate.

So essentially, the decision now sits on the U.S. Supreme Court to amend the Constitutional right to abortion across the nation.

The likely overturning of Roe v. Wade is being viewed as one of the most controversial decisions in decades.
