Russians have been very active in space with two cosmonauts showing off the International Space Station’s new robotic arm

Oleg Artemyev and Denis Metveev left the space station just before 11am ET for their spacewalk which went on for nearly 8 hours.

This marked the second spacewalk for Matveev and the fifth for Artemyev.

The two cosmonauts have been working on the robotic arm since April 18 just outside the Russian Nauku module.

The first spacewalk involved installing and connecting a control panel for the 11 metre-long robotic arm.

Matveev and Artemyev tested the robotic limb flexing its joints and testing its grappling skills.

The arms is designed for spacewalkers to help transport items outside of Russia’s segment of the space station.
