President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday evening that the United States will “take over the Gaza Strip,” dismantle its damaged infrastructure, and rebuild the region with a focus on economic development and job creation.

The announcement came during a joint press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marking Netanyahu’s first visit under Trump’s second administration.

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too,” Trump declared.

He outlined plans to clear unexploded ordnance, level destroyed buildings, and develop housing and employment opportunities.

“Just can’t go back. If you go back, it’s going to end up the same way it has for 100 years,” Trump said, suggesting that U.S. stewardship could bring unprecedented stability to the region.

When asked about the long-term vision, Trump indicated that the U.S. could maintain ownership of Gaza to ensure sustained peace and development.
