Texas Democrat and gubernatorial nominee Beto O’Rourke interrupted current state Governor Greg Abbott during a press conference on the deadly Uvalde mass shooting
As officials tried to provide updates to the public about the situation, O’Rourke walked to the front of the auditorium, before telling lawmakers ‘this is totally predictable’.
In response, Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin, shouted at O’Rourke to leave and told him he is ‘out of line’.
O’Rourke is a former congressman who represented El Paso, Texas, and is a former Senate and presidential candidate.
Prominent Senator Ted Cruz was also on stage. Cruz ran against during an unsuccessful Senate bid in 2018.
This has left much of the world divided over whether this was the time and the place for a politician to express his views so publicly.
Governor Abbott was unimpressed, saying this devastation should not be used as an excuse to advance political agendas.
However, after leaving the auditorium, O’Rourke questions if now is not the time, when is it?
