Chinese shopping app, Pinduoduo, allegedly planting spyware on mobile phones

Move over TikTok, there’s a new app to worry about.

There are new fears one of China’s most popular shopping apps can bypass a mobile phone’s security and spy on users.

The app is called Pinduoduo and it has cyber security experts concerned.

It attracts a whopping 750 million users a month, selling a huge number of products, from clothing to groceries and so much more.

But experts believe it has the ability to monitor activities on other apps, check notifications, read private messages and even change mobile settings.

Once it’s installed, it’s hard to remove.

Company insiders say the software is being used to spy on users and competitors, in the hope of boosting sales.

This all comes amid intense scrutiny of Chinese-developed apps like TikTok over concerns about data security.

Some countries are pushing for a national ban of the popular video app.
