“There is use of these tags in domestic violence”: Apple AirTags spark stalking fears

Apples popular AirTags is innovative and super helpful when used correctly, but there are concerns regarding its surveillance and tracking network impacting billions.

Apple AirTags and ‘Find My’ app only work because of a tracking network that we could all be involved in without knowing.

So what is the airtag?

Its a small device that can be attached to personal items like keys, wallets or luggage.

To prevent you from losing your things right….

The tag then sends messages that can be used to track its location.

This sounds clearly pretty useful but AirTags can also be misused.

For example, there is an apple operated surveillance network, which many of us are involved in and don’t even know or own an AirTag

Cyber security expert Paul Haskell- Dowland breaks it down.

“There is use of these tags in domestic violence and other situations where an individual may want to be stalking.”

There are also concerns of stalking using the tech.

So, if you have the latest iPhone update be sure to turn your location services off, if you don’t want to be apart of this.
