The FIFA President has been in the spotlight ahead of this year’s Men’s World Cup amid human rights concerns with the host nation of Qatar

Amnesty International has spoken on the comments, Steve Cockburn is the Head of Economic and Social Justice.

He says the FIFA boss was brushing aside legitimate human rights criticisms.

In a statement, he says “demands for equality, dignity and compensation cannot be treated as some sort of culture war. They are universal human rights that FIFA has committed to respect in its own statutes.”

He went on to say there is one tiny glimmer of hope, and that’s FIFA’s legacy fund after the tournament to help people facing poverty.
