Taliban to “stop women from working for a while”

As the new Taliban rule continues in Afghanistan, the militant group has advised female employees within Kabul to stay at home unless their jobs cannot be done by a man

The mayor of Kabul says the Taliban has “found it necessary to stop women from working for a while”

These latest restrictions follow a string of previous strict regulations that have been imposed by the nation’s hard-line new Islamist government.

During the militant group’s previous rule over Afghanistan during the 1990s, women were also prevented from receiving education or working.

Following the successful Taliban takeover of the country in August, the group said women’s rights would be respected “within the framework of Islamic law”.

Since this time, there have been numerous reports of Taliban fighters beating women who have been protesting against the all-male interim government.

Meanwhile, the Taliban have also appeared to have closed the women’s affairs ministry… replacing it with a religious doctrines department.
