Taiwan’s President has been vaccinated with Taiwans first domestically developed COVID-19 vaccine
The Island’s Health Ministry authorised emergency use of the Medigen vaccine last month, despite clinical trials not yet finished.
The company says there are no major safety concerns and studies showed that antibodies created were “no worse than” those created by AstraZeneca’s vaccine.
Now over 700,000 people have signed up to receive the shot, which requires the two doses a month apart.
5 million doses have been ordered, but the government say no one will be forced to get it.
