Reports state that tear gas was fired at demonstrators with many of them being detained

As the nation’s coup continues, Sudanese security forces have fired tear gas at dozens of teachers during pro-democracy protests in the capital.

This comes as reports surface that many teachers have been detained, with demonstrators setting up barricades and barriers during planned demonstrations.

Protestors are demanding that the military returns control to the elected government and allow the continuation of civilian rule.

Meanwhile, Arab League mediators have arrived in the country for high-level talks to try and find a solution to this ongoing crisis.

The democratically-elected prime minister of Sudan currently remains under house arrest and is reportedly being pressured to cooperate with the military leaders.

Last month, Sudan’s coup leader dissolved the civilian arm of the Sudanese government’s power-sharing agreement and declared a state of emergency.
