Segregation and dress code – strict new rules for studying Afghan women

Published

on

The Taliban have declared that all universities will be segregated by gender and strict dress codes will be enforced, as the militant group increases their control over Afghanistan

It comes as the country’s new education minister confirms that women will be able to continue studying.

The Taliban also says they wont prevent women from seeking employment… but since taking control of the country they have asked women to stay away from their workplaces until further notice.

This all follows the militant group raising their white flag over Kabul’s presidential palace on Sunday, signalling the official commencement of their reign.

The latest university segregation policy is a significant change from the way Afghanistan was before the Taliban took over.

Prior to August, universities were co-educational, with men and women studying side by side, and there were no dress codes.

Meanwhile, the education minister is standing firm on the decision, saying “we have no problems in ending the mixed-education system, the people are Muslims and they will accept it.”

Trump claims Iran’s military largely neutralized; tensions rise with attacks threatening air travel and oil shipping.

President Trump says Iran’s military capability has been largely neutralised, including its navy and air force, as the conflict in the Middle East intensifies. Iranian attacks have threatened commercial air travel and oil shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of wider economic fallout.

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh has faced two attacks, while Gulf states worked to intercept further Iranian strikes. Officials report six U.S. troops killed and more than 700 deaths inside Iran as the exchange of fire escalates.

With global markets watching closely, the region remains on edge as military and diplomatic tensions show no signs of easing.
