The United States and United Nations are pushing for a solution to the matter.

It follows Prime Minister Ab-Dalla Ham-dock being confined to his house, as the military seized control in a coup last month.

A second source says Sudan could set up a new 14-member sovereign council in the first steps by the military towards forming new transitional institutions.

The UN’s Secretary-General spoke to the nation’s army chief and urged him to restore constitutional order and the transitional process.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also spoke to the army chief, where they agreed on the need to accelerate the formation of a government.
