Finland’s left-wing Prime Minister Sanna Marin has lost her battle to stay in power.

Finland’s centre-right leader claimed victory in a tight general election.

The head of the conservative National Coalition Party is 53-year-old Petteri Orpo.

Orpo could choose to build a government either with the far-right Finns Party or the Social Democrats.

The biggest party in parliament traditionally gets the first chance to build a government, and usually is the party that claims the prime minister’s office.

Orpo has made the economy his top priority throughout his campaign.
