A New York judge has ordered Sam Bankman-Fried’s lawyers to submit a new proposal to modify his bail conditions
The proposal would include more detail on the suggestion that the former FTX CEO install a phone app to automatically record and archive his communications.
The two-week-long spat between federal prosecutors and Bankman-Fried’s lawyers could end if the proposal is accepted by U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan.
Last month, prosecutors submitted a letter urging Kaplan to amend Bankman-Fried’s bail conditions.
The letter alleged that Bankman-Fried had attempted to reach a potential witness and used self-deleting messaging applications, hindering discovery in the case.
Bankman-Fried’s lawyer, Mark Cohen, argued that Bankman-Fried needed to contact former employees for personal support.
Cohen previously filed a letter with the court saying that an agreement had been reached with federal prosecutors, but Kaplan rejected the agreement the next day.
