Authorities in Australia are concerned that criminal gangs have infiltrated the country’s national carrier, Qantas

Operation “Project Brunello” found that a significant number of Qantas staff linked to criminal gangs that coordinate drug importation and other illegal activities.

Authorities believe around 150 individuals are involved in the activities, which are “a very high threat to the Australian border”.

However, of particular concern is a Comanchero motorcycle gang affiliate who works in a mid-management position at Qantas.

Officials believe this individual has recruited a number of other criminals into the company to help import narcotics.

Qantas Group chief security officer Luke Bramah says “given we follow all of the government’s vetting procedures, we find these claims disturbing.

Bramah continued saying Qantas has not been advised about the investigation. “If concerns are raised regarding any of our employees, Qantas will actively support their investigation and take appropriate action.”
