State Duma set to meet this week following serious warnings made by Putin on the war in Ukraine

Russia’s Lower House will meet this week for an extraordinary session, after President Vladimir Putin warns he hasn’t even started getting serious about the war in Ukraine.

Putin met with leaders last week, where he sent a stark warning to NATO leaders to not even dare try and defeat Russia in Ukraine.

One lawmaker says he will help two Russian-backed breakaway republics in eastern Ukraine to develop their own legal systems.

It comes as Putin maintains the “special military operation” in Ukraine is necessary because Moscow is defending Russian-speaking people of persecution.

But Ukraine and many analysts say Putin’s war is illegal and unjustified.

It comes as the war ticks over into its fifth month, as people share scenes from on the ground.
