A TV host fainted during the UK’s second leaders’ debate between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak
Kate McCann collapsed as Liz Truss spoke of plans to cut the number of National Health Service managers, arguing too much of the service’s infrastructure is depleted, and it is being ‘held up by stilts’.
Truss continued her attacks on Sunak’s decision to increase national insurance to finance Covid catch-up for the NHS and social care.
But the scheduled hour-long debate was abruptly cut short as McCann fainted on camera, with viewers hearing a large crash.
Truss looked visibly shocked, holding her hands to her face as she began walking towards where McCann had been standing.
The network, TalkTV, later released a statement saying political editor, McCann “fainted on air tonight”, and the medical advice was the debate should not continue.
