There’s a nervous wait for those booked to travel on two of P&O Ferries largest ships

P&O says it’s preparing to get its “Pride of Kent” and “Spirit of Britain” ships back in operation “by next week”, to serve the popular Dover-Calais route.

Despite previously failing safety inspections, the operator is confident they will return to service on time.

“P&O has been working closely with regulators to ensure our ships are safe to sail. P&O is looking forward to welcoming back vital services and we expect to have two of our vessels ready to sail on the Dover-Calais route by next week, subject to regulatory signoff,”

The ships still need to pass new checks before they can set sail. Many travellers are nervous after learning the news that there has not yet been any confirmation that the inspections, which can take days, have even been booked in.

But the company has stressed there is no need to panic, confident the ships will set sail.
