FBI Links New Orleans Attack Suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar to Islamic State; Devices Recovered for Investigation.

Investigators have recovered multiple phones and laptops linked to Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old from Texas accused of a New Orleans attack.

Three phones and two laptops associated with Jabbar were found, according to the FBI. The devices are under review for leads, as stated by Christopher Raia, deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division. The laptops were discovered at a residence in New Orleans Jabbar purportedly visited before the incident.

The FBI indicated that Jabbar was inspired by the Islamic State. The rental truck he used during the attack displayed the militant group’s flag, according to authorities.

Recent conflicts in the Middle East have raised concerns about possible Islamist attacks in the United States. The Islamic State has a track record of motivating individuals to conduct lone-wolf jihadist attacks.

At a news briefing, Raia noted that investigators are examining social media for insights into the connections between Jabbar and the Islamic State. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover more details regarding the motivations behind the attack and any further implications related to potential threats.
